Matt Croger

Matt graduated with Honours from the University of Newcastle in 2007. He initially spent some time working in local hospitals before moving to Canberra with his wife and joining the Capital Clinic team in 2009. 

Matt has a keen interest in all areas of musculoskeletal physiotherapy but quickly developed a special interest in the science of pain and the treatment of unresolved pain conditions, Matt has a passion for applying a high level of clinical reasoning and identifying all the contributors to a person’s pain experience in order to best assist them with moving forward. This interest led Matt to complete a Master of Science in Medicine (Pain Management) through the University of Sydney. 

Matt is particularly passionate about neck or back pain that has not responded to other treatment. 

Matt was the the first in the ACT, and among the first in the country, to be recognised by the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) with the title of APA Pain Physiotherapist. He was heavily involved in the advocacy and design of the first ever Physiotherapy Specialisation training program offered via the APA. 

In 2014 Matt became a Director of Capital Clinic and in recent years divides his time between the team at City West and heading the allied health team at ACT Pain Centre as Director of Allied Health. Matt helps bring together a multidisciplinary team who work together to help those suffering with the burden of chronic conditions. 

Matt works closely with both government and private organisations to understand best practice approaches to pain and is passionate about preventative strategies. He has a firm belief that the person should be at the centre of care and that each person attends treatment with their own unique story that requires careful attention. 

On weekends you can find Matt making the most of time with his family.
