Complex pain conditions
Melanie graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (1st Class Honours) in 1997. She developed an interest in chronic pain while working in the UK early in her career. Since then she has had extensive specific training in Pain Science and other aspects of health relevant to chronic pain care and recovery. She has been a passionate educator of Pain Science to her patients as well as to undergraduates and physiotherapy colleagues. Her experience, teaching, leadership, and advocacy in the pain field enabled her to attain the title of Pain Physiotherapist in 2019.
Melanie has also completed a Master of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. Her expertise in this traditional field of physiotherapy, coupled with her Pain Physio skills, gives her broad capabilities for identifying and addressing the complexities of persistent pain experiences, using a whole-person approach.
